There are seven types of electromagnetic spectrum. Infrared and visible light are both forms of electromagnetic radiation, but they have different wavelengths. Infrared radiation is electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light and occur at frequencies just above microwaves and just below red visible light. The infrared spectrum is invisible to the human eye, and the visible spectrum is just a very small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. In other words, we actually only see a fraction of what exists around us.
